Spread the love

Deerfield has updated their VisNetic FTPServer with a new version which has been given the number 2.1.0.121. One of the big changes is the addition of its own Anti-Virus plug-in that checks incoming files for viruses so that your FTP server is also protected against these outside influences. Furthermore, the usual features are included such as support for TLS/SSL encryption and limiting bandwidth for users. The changelog informs us of the following changes:

Added:

  • VisNetic AntiVirus Plugin support. Uploaded files can be scanned for viruses using an optional plug-in.
  • The Server Activity Tab now has a Clear Log Window feature.
  • Kick User feature on the Server Activity window.
  • Virtual Folder Wizard that simplifies the process of configuring Virtual Folders.
  • Support for the ML and MLD commands which are shorthand for MLST/MSLD.
  • Added a 1 minute recurring timer to the Agent which checks for dead/idle connections and closes them if found.

Changed:

  • Reworked the Virtual Folder feature. Virtual Folders are now prefixed with %USERDIR% which allows all virtual folders to be mapped under the users home directory. If you modify the users home directory, all of the Virtual Folder mappings will still work.
NOTE: If you are upgrading from a previous version and you are using Virtual Folders, please check each user/group virtual folders to ensure that they are set up correctly.

Fixed:

  • Memory leak in the SSL/srCrypto layer
  • Bug which failed to close the primary connection if an ssl handshake failed.
  • Rename bug which failed to check permissions on the RNTO portion of the command.
  • Bug in the Banned/Permitted IP address code. It was hanging when it encountered a 192.168.*.* type of address.
  • Server would stop accepting connections after a period of time. This seemed to be due to the log manager hanging while attempting to log a message about a new incoming connection. This has been changed somewhat to allow for the connection to be established before dumping the message.
  • Memory leak in SSL connections when trying to upload multiple files using a secure data connection.
  • Implicit/990 bug which prevented VFS from accepting implicit connections.
  • Directory listing bug that incorrectly reported file sizes for files > 2gb in size.
  • Virtual Folder bug that prevented VFS from being accessed if they were mapped to a UNC share.
  • Idle connection timeout bug where connections were not being kicked immediately after the timeout expired.
  • Various bugs which would leave dead/closed connections hanging around.
  • UL/DL Ratios (per-session) bug where users could immediately download a file upon login even if they had not uploaded a file.
  • Bug which would prevent VisNetic FTPServer from opening a data connection in active mode through some firewalls when MSFTP worked. This appeared to be a problem with not binding to port 20 and not using the same local side ip address as the control connection.
  • Unable to CWD into a virtual folder if it was mapped to a UNC share.
  • SSL bug which would prevent files from being transferred in secure mode.
  • Remote Admin gui bug which was not honoring the IP address in the drop down listbox if there were multiple NICS in the system.
  • SSL was not working in Active/PORT mode. This has been corrected.
  • Internal Directory Access/Virtual Folders bug which would occasionally result in duplicate Virtual Folders appearing in a directory listing.
  • Internal memory handle bug which could hang a connection during the generation of a directory listing if Virtual Folders were being used.
  • MLSD bug which was incorrectly returning the directory information on the control connection instead of returning it on a data connection.
  • NT Authentication bug which was causing W2K computers to run slow.
  • Win 9x installations are no longer able to select NT Authentication for servers on a 9x box.
  • Directory Access Rights bug which allowed the entry of a non-absolute directory such as ‘subdir’ instead of ‘subdir”. The DAR rule for directories such as these would not work and users would be locked out of the folder.
  • Authentication bug which would prevent VFS from listing all NT Users when there were more than a few hundred user accounts. VFS now supports NT domains consisting of thousands of users.
  • Virtual Folders bug at the Server Level. Virtual Folders have been removed from the Server Level since they are not applicable. The same functionality can be achieved by adding a Virtual Folder to the Everyone group.
  • CWD bug which could allow users to change to a folder outside of their namespace.
