Software Update: Total Commander 7.50 RC1

Spread the love

After a series of no less than eight beta releases, Christian Ghisler has now released the first release candidate of version 7.50 of Total Commander. This program can be used as a replacement for Windows Explorer. Splitting the image in half makes it easy to copy files, but the program can do much more. There are various ways to modify files, there is a built-in ftp client and a multi-rename tool and there is support for a large number of compression formats. Furthermore, the functionality can be extended with plugins.

New in version 7.50 is, among other things, that the ftp passwords can be protected with an aes256-encrypted ‘master password’, that the individual folders in the address bar can be clicked (‘breadcrumbs’). and that the internal archive unpacker can now also handle multi-volume rar files and password rar files. The complete overview of the changes since version 3.00 can be found in this text file are being found. In addition to some bug fixes, this release includes a switch to the chmformat for the help file:

Total Commander 7.50 release candidate 1 is available now!

This is mainly a bugfix release, but also contains some changes:

  • The main change is the switch to the HTML HELP format (CHM), which was supported by a vast majority in the poll forum
  • Windows 7: Show progress bar in task bar
  • The sync function can now start the comparison automatically via a special parameter if the user wants that

A list of additions and corrections, also for previous versions, can be found here.

As usual, the update is free for all registered users.
