Software Update: Total Commander 7.50 Beta 8

Spread the love

The final release was expected to be on the cusp of release, yet Christian Ghisler has released an eighth beta release of version 7.50 of Total Commander. This program can be used as a replacement for Windows Explorer. Splitting the image in half makes it easy to copy files, but the program can do much more. There are various ways to modify files, there is a built-in ftp client and a multi-rename tool and there is support for a large number of compression formats. Furthermore, the functionality can be extended with plugins.

New in version 7.50 is, among other things, that the ftp passwords can be protected with an aes256 encrypted ‘master password’, that the individual folders in the address bar can be clicked (‘breadcrumbs’). and that the internal archive unpacker can now also handle multi-volume rar files and password rar files. The complete overview of the changes since version 3.00 can be found in this text file are being found. In this eighth beta release, again few new possibilities can be found, but the main focus has been on solving problems:

Total Commander 7.50 public beta 8 is available now!

This is mainly a bugfix release, but also contains some improvements:

  • Increased maximum number of custom column views from 29 to 99
  • Show small progress bar in cursor when right clicking to indicate to the user that a context menu will be shown after half a second – can be disabled via wincmd.ini
  • Button bar, start menu: Various new parameters supported, see help

A list of additions and corrections, also for previous versions, can be found here.
