Sygate has upgraded its Personal Firewall software to version 5.5 build 2637. This program can protect the computer against trojans, spyware and unwanted visitors. Deep-packet inspection, anti-application hijacking and a log dampener can be used. Sygate Personal Firewall can be used as freeware for home use, in addition, the package has a Pro version that is shareware. The following are known issues with this version of Sygate Personal Firewall 5.5. They will be addressed or fixed in later versions of this product:

• User will get continue to get frequent prompts even when “Auto Allow Known DLLs” is enabled.
• If the host PC system has multiple network protocol drivers installed, Sygate Personal Firewall may have significant performance impact.
• The “Block Traffic When Service Is Not Running” selection may prevent the host PC from receiving IP address from DHCP server.
• Sygate Personal Firewall does not support Windows XP fast switch feature.
• Double click on Sygate Personal Firewall system tray icon will accidentally launch the log viewer.
• Sygate Personal Firewall Help does not list any available printers for printing.
• Sygate Personal Firewall is not compatible with BlackIce Firewall.
• Clicking “Managed Firewall Info…” or “Get Internet Sharing” will trigger Internet Connection Wizard.
• Activate Stealth Mode Browsing cause WEB pages and RealAudio to fail
• Sygate Personal Firewall may prevent PocketPC to synchronize with PC infrared port.
• Sygate Personal Firewall shows incorrect path when it is a mounted drive.
