Software Update: SugarSync 3.0.1

Spread the love

Version 3.0 has been released from SugarSync. This online storage and synchronization service is comparable to services such as Dropbox, Wuala, Google Drive, OneDrive and iCloud. The program can be used to backup or easily access files from different places. SugarSync only has paid plans with a storage of 60GB, 100GB or 250GB, with a temporary 75% discount on the first year. Previously there was also a free account with 5GB storage, but at the beginning of this year that is abolished. More information about the possibilities of SugarSync is here can be found and compared with other services here.

Clients exist for various mobile platforms, Windows and OS X, but not yet for Linux. In addition, there is a Outlook plugin. In version 3.0, the desktop app in particular has been overhauled, making it easier to see which files and folders are shared with which computer and who has access to them.

Easily and quickly access and interact with your files
With the redesigned desktop app , we’ve unified the access and management of your files into an intuitive and unified experience. The ‘Folders’ section displays all folders – those that you added to SugarSync and those that have been shared with you. This makes it much easier and faster to interact with any of your files. Whether you need to access one of your files located on another computer or need to edit a file that somebody else has shared with you, the redesigned desktop app makes this simple and fast. With this significantly improved experience, there is no need for SugarSync Drive in the new desktop app.

Control which folders sync where
Unlike other solutions, SugarSync allows you to control which folders sync to which devices. Sync your work files to your home computer or sync your personal files to your work computer. In the redesigned desktop app, the ‘Devices’ section not only makes it intuitive to see where your folders are syncing, but also makes it straightforward to start or stop syncing a folder.

Manage how you share files and folders
When it comes to sharing folders or files, you have complete control over who edits or views your stuff. This makes it easy to collaborate and work on team projects, distribute view-only files to others, or to simply post links to documents on the Web. In the redesigned app, the ‘Public Links’ and ‘Shared by Me’ make it easy to view and manage what you are sharing with whom.

At-a-glance information
We have elevated the most important information about your files and folders across the app. Whether you need to know who owns a folder, where a folder is located, or which files and folders are shared, this information is highlighted across the app.

More to come…
We’re still plugging away! You’ll continue to see regular updates, starting with features such as deleted items management, more robust sync status, support for additional languages (Spanish, French & Japanese), and redesigned mobile and web experiences. Of course, we’d love for everybody to start using the new and improved desktop app. But, if you’d prefer to wait until these updates are released, not to worry, you can continue using your current version of SugarSync for now.
