Download SmokePing 2.3.0
To monitor the presence of various components in the network, you can use the simple ping command. However, with this you can only view the current status and the output is text based. An application that keeps a history of availability and can then display it graphically is Smokeping. This application requires a web server with Perl, Rrdtool and a number of other components. This allows an overview to be set up as on this page can be viewed. The developers have released version 2.3.0 with the following list of changes:
New Features:
- Measurement targets can be organized into multiple hierarchies.
- The filter system lets you the find the right graphs directly.
- Individual targets or whole branches can be hidden from the default menu tree.
- The Master can be stopped from even attempting to poll certain targets.
Bug fixed:
- Locking in master/slave has been rewritten and should now work better on all platforms.
- Cosmetic Javascript Errors removed (no functional impact)
- Improved Curl probe portability
- Fixed slave config pickup behavior
- Make sure tsmoke sends mime conformant mail
