Skype is a VoIP program that is being developed by the same people behind KaZaA and uses the P2P technique from that program. According to the developers, this makes it possible to have a conversation with a higher quality than via a normal fixed telephone connection. Skype Technologies SA has released a new version for the Windows platform and has chosen 1.0.0.94 as the version number. The included changelog shows us the following changes:

Changes:

• updated many language files
• when adding a contact, click Next in Finished dialog takes to first screen and empties the userhandle editbox

Bug fixes:

• if Language Editor is open in background, but somewhere in the back, choosing from menu “Tools -> Edit Skype Language File” will bring this window in front
• Start Tab content was not displayed if connection was made “too quickly”
• if Manage Blocked Users window is open in background, “Tools -> Manage Blocked Users” brings this window in front
• calltab is correctly updated if 2nd call drops off the conference during conference hold
• IM: commas don’t break links anymore
• tooltips containing a pipe symbol are now displayed correctly
• addressbar history dropdown items can be deleted with ‘del’
• contactlist/callhistory tooltip is capable of displaying unicode
• adding existing SkypeOut contacts to Contacts correctly disabled in call history
• IM – links with smileys are handled correctly
• better time estimate message for file transfers over 24 hours long
• links with ( dont work in IM
• File Transfer – Unicode characters in filename handled correctly
• File Transfer remembers the target directory
• conference topic is correctly displayed if contains non-ASCII characters
