Software Update: Paint.Net 3.5.5 Beta Build 3754

Spread the love

A new beta release of Paint.Net was released on Tuesday. As the name suggests, this photo editing program needs the .Net Framework to do its job. Updating is preferably possible from within the program itself, but downloading is also an option option. In version 3.5, the user interface has been refreshed. There are new icons and the program can use Aero on Windows Vista and 7. There are also several new effects, the program starts faster and the text tool has been completely rewritten. The program itself has not changed in this beta release. However, the required minimum version of the .Net Framework has been increased to 4.0:

Paint.NET v3.5.5 Beta build 3754 Now with .NET v4

Today, Visual Studio 2010 and .NET v4 were released. With this, Paint.NET v3.5.5 is moving to use .NET v4, as I already announced would happen back in January.

Please note that XP SP2 and Vista pre-SP1 (“RTM”) are no longer supported. Here are download links to install the service packs if you need them:

Just to clarify, XP is still supported! However, you must have Service Pack 3 (“SP3”) installed. For Vista, you must have SP1 or SP2 installed.

Paint.NET Beta will download and install .NET v4 Client Profile automatically if it’s needed.
