Some students from Washington State University, in collaboration with Microsoft, have created an improved version of Paint, which comes standard with Windows. The software has been given the name Paint.NET and, as the name reveals, is developed in Microsoft .NET, allowing the .NET Framework 2.0 must be installed on the system before using Paint.NET. Paint.NET is capable of editing images. You can use layers and various tools to apply effects. A few days ago a new version of Paint.NET was put online. It concerns version 2.64, which can be downloaded from our file server by clicking here. This release includes some bug fixes and compatibility improvements under Windows Vista:
This small updates fixes a few minor bugs, and improves Windows Vista compatibility. As a bonus, it also adds much better GIF save quality.
- Improved GIF save quality by implementing Floyd-Steinburg error diffusion algorithm
- Printing now works in Windows Vista
- Fixed a startup performance problem on some systems that was an artifact of the way the .NET Framework was verifying Authenticode signatures as part of its assembly loading process
- Executable files now have UAC manifests to ensure proper execution privilege and to disable file and registry virtualization in Windows Vista
