Software update: Nextcloud 12.0.7 / 13.0.2

Nextcloud has released updates for versions 12 and 13 of their eponymous software. With this program it is possible to run cloud storage in-house. Nextcloud arose after a large number of developers at ownCloud have run away and started again. All components, including enterprise functionality, are offered as open source and the earnings model is equal to what Red Hat does, namely providing paid support for large customers. Nextcloud also promises a so-called drop-in replacement, which makes it possible to easily switch from ownCloud to Nextcloud.
In version 13, the user interface has been refreshed, making it more responsive and looking better at high resolutions. Furthermore ldap has become a lot faster and we see the introduction of Nextcloud Talk an audio video and text communication platform. The release notes for this update can be found below.

Nextcloud: 13.0.2 and 12.0.7 available, Collabora Online 3.2 is out!

What is new?
That Nextcloud 13 has been very reliable no changes – though it has been less than usual. About 30 minor issues were dealt with, including:

  • UI improvements, especially in the gallery
  • Improvements to End-to-end Encryption (which is still in testing!)
  • An option to disable html emails
  • Warning in the updater when software is outdated

Speaking of outdated software: Note that Nextcloud 11 is no longer maintained. We urge users or 11 to upgrade or contact Nextcloud sales to ensure the security of your system.
Collabora Online 3.2 is out
Please note that end of last week, Collabora Online 3.2 has been released ! With this version, charts can not be shown and edited but also created in Calc, Writer and Impress. Calc ends Data Validation, which allows spreadsheets to be used as checklists or control form data entry
This new version also brings the ability to run with python scripts. The Spell Check feature now features a context menu on right click. These improvements have a lot of smaller UI enhancements and bugfixes have been set.
