Software Update: Mozilla Thunderbird 3.1 Beta 2

The Mozilla Foundation has released the second beta release of Thunderbird 3.1. Mozilla Thunderbird is an open source mail and newsgroup client with features such as support for various mail and news accounts, a junk mail filter, a spell checker and a customizable appearance. Version 3.1, which for the time being is still codenamed Lanikai, includes improved support for imap and various improvements to the smart folders, filters and attachment handling. What’s New in Thunderbird 3.1 Beta 2

Thunderbird 3.1 Beta 2 is built on top of the Gecko 1.9.2 platform. The main goals of this release is to find out about possible problems caused by the changes in the underlying platform. Notable changes include:

  • New quick filter toolbar.
  • New migration assistant.
  • Improved support for Personas.
  • Several fixes to improve upgrading from Thunderbird 2.
  • Several design improvements and corrections to the interface.
  • Stability and memory improvements.
