About three months after the first release candidate of Mediaportal1.0, the developers behind this open source project have now released a second release candidate. With Mediaportal, a Windows machine can be used as the heart of the living room multimedia hardware. This makes it easy to listen to radio and music, watch videos and DVDs and record TV programs. The functionality can be expanded and the ‘look & feel’ of the program can be adjusted by means of plugins and extensions. Version 1.0 includes a completely new and self-developed module called TV server, which can be used to watch and record television. The differences with the old module can be over this page are being found.

Another big change is the so-called Deploytool. This should make installing Mediaportal a lot easier. This ensures that the correct modules are installed and it is also possible to choose a specific language. This means that an internet connection is necessary during the installation. MediaPortal / TV Server 1.0 RC2 released!

Nearly 3 months after the release of MediaPortal 1.0 RC1 we are pleased to announce that MediaPortal RC2 is available for download. We have put our main efforts into bug fixing for stability and usability again. According to our roadmap every RC1 specifc bug could be fixed.

Unfortunately we had to remove the “MyTrailers” and “MyMusicVideos” plugins from the installation package because both plugins are broken and unmaintained. Their original developers are not active anymore and trying to get the code working again would delay the complete product for another few weeks.

We want to thank everyone who took the time to created proper reports and to those who submitted patches. You pushed MediaPortal forward.
