The original author of Media Player Classic, a small no-frills media player, with the look of Windows Media Player 6.4, has been out of business for a while. Several people have taken up the open source source code and have continued to use it. One of them is Media Player Classic Homecinema and version 1.1.604.0 has been released. Like the original MPC, this media player, when combined with the ffdshow filter, can display just about anything it throws at it. However, it also has a number of extras, which are particularly interesting for use on an htpc. For example, there is an option for this anti tear, DirectX video acceleration, subtitle synchronization and support for the Shuttle PN31 remote control. More information is on this page to find.
