Software Update: Kiwi Syslog Daemon 7.1.0 beta 6

Thanks to Bor we are being alerted to the existence of Kiwi Syslog Daemon 7.1.0 beta 6. The update is via this link down and weighs just over four megabytes. The sixth beta version of the 7.1.0 branch features eleven improvements and four bug fixes. The makers describe the program as follows:

Kiwi Syslog Daemon is a Windows and NT Syslog Daemon that receives, logs, displays, and forwards Unix type Syslog messages from hosts such as Routers, Switches, UNIX hosts, and PCs. Includes PIX firewall TCP support and LinkSys home firewall SNMP support.

    Bug fixes:

    • Fixed bug with DNS resolution queue filling up
    • Fixed bug with DNS cache not being updated
    • Fixed crash when service stops (caused by open files not being cleaned up correctly)
    • Fixed bug with File logging function. (sub script out of range in FileStore add function)

    Improvements:

    • Added “Send page via NotePage Pro” action
    • Improved program shutdown code for DNS threads
    • Added msgbox informing restart required when changing DNS thread count
    • Disabled “send ICQ message” action until new ICQ sender is available
    • Modified DNS stats in diagnostics report
    • Increased DNSCache size to 20,000 entries by default
    • Changed DNS Cache timeout from seconds to minutes (default of 1440 minutes – one day)
    • Added option to add text to alarm and stats emails. (Refer to MailAdditionalBodyText and MailAdditionalSubjectText registry settings)
    • Added option to specify message buffer size. MsgBufferSize now up to 10 million entries (registered version)
    • Added error checking to properties page display code
    • Added error checking around show stats page code
