It’s that time again, a new version of ICQ has been released. It’s not a new build of 2000a, but an Alpha version of 2000b. Many people are put off by the word alpha, but with ICQ it doesn’t matter. The alpha/beta versions are about the same and definitely not just for professionals.
Quite a few improvements this time, including a new nice round startup screen and an option for telephony via the client and channels.

– There is a new design for User Details, a new menu on the left side of the dialog replaces the design tabs in previous ICQ versions. An additional Contact option highlights the concise information for the user.
– In the Message dialog you now have the option to send your message by email.
– ICQphone: This feature incorporates IP telephony functions into the ICQ client program.
– Integration with Wireless Pagers.
– ICQ Channels.
– ICQ External Contacts.
– Request for Authorization Follow Up Service.
