Download Hitman Pro 1.7.3

Mark Loman has updated Hitman Pro to version 1.7.3. This program is meant to be the ultimate spyware removal tool. It’s a 17MB download containing the free versions of Ad-aware SE, Webroot SpySweeper, Spybot Search & Destroy, SpywareBlaster, and McAfee Stinger, surrounded by a shell that configures the individual programs and calls them one by one. If paid versions of the aforementioned version are already installed, they will be used. The changelog for this release looks like this:

Dissolved

• In certain situations, a script error “If $SSDUserAbort = 1 Then” could occur when running Spybot. This has been resolved.
• During CWShredder, Hitman Pro could not find the Fix button on some systems. Section concerns CWShredder rewritten so it should now work flawlessly.

Amended

• Hitman Pro disables the Spybot updater if the computer is connected to the Internet through a proxy server. Previously, Spybot crashed.
• The “Disable third-party browser extensions” feature is no longer selected by default on new installations of Hitman Pro.

Improved

• Hitman Pro will restart when the main program is updated so that scan is immediately rerun with the new main program.
• If the default browser is Firefox, the report will also be displayed with Firefox instead of Internet Explorer.
• Hitman Pro now allows an external component (such as Ad-Aware and Spybot) to scan for up to an hour. This used to be 30 minutes.
• Added detection for subscribers and trial version of Spy Sweeper. This is so that the subscribers version is never updated by a trial version.
• Hitman Pro now reads from the registry where Spybot is installed. Now Spybot may already be installed in any location.
• Added support for Ad-Aware SE Plus. Previously, the paid Plus edition was updated with the freeware Personal edition.
• Added option to shut down computer when Hitman Pro has finished its work.
