Software Update: Google Chrome 30.0.1599.101

Google released an update to version 30 of its Chrome web browser, but it turned out to be causing quite a few problems for many users. This update should change that. Version 30 has made it easier to search for images and several new extensions and apps have been added. Version 30.0.1599.101 also fixes several security vulnerabilities.

Security Fixes and Rewards

Note: Access to bug details and links may be kept restricted until a majority of users are updated with a fix. We will also retain restrictions if the bug exists in a third party library that other projects similarly depend on, but haven’t yet fixed.

This update includes 5 security fixes. Below, we highlight fixes that were either contributed by external researchers or particularly interesting. Please see the Chromium security page for more information.

  • [292422] High CVE-2013-2925: Use after free in XHR.
  • [294456] High CVE-2013-2926: Use after free in editing.
  • [297478] High CVE-2013-2927: Use after free in forms.

Many of the above bugs were detected using AddressSanitizer.
