Anonymous: 76842 was not very pleased with the Windows desktop and found his salvation in GeoShell. This program replaces the Explorer shell with so-called geoBars with shortcuts to programs, directories and disk media. In addition, there is support from plugins to extend GeoShell. At the moment the developers have beta version 4.11.8 online set with the next release notes†

Notes:

• improved menu skinning
• moved settings to more logical places

Note: use -noauto when running this beta for the first time (unless you logoff) or the startup tasks will run again.

Changes:

• master jones fixed the thin menu and loaded menu skins with bar skins
• eiko borrowed some code from LS to make Startup Programs work the way they should (no more -noauto)
• implemented Nicolas Escuder’s fix for the XP logon screen delay
• fixed a “fade this bar” bug
• Jaykul added a new separator bitmap for GeoSep
• Added separate “Use System Color” settings for bars and menu
• Made the “Use System Color” setting write the settings out to the registry to ease creating themes
• moved all menu-related settings from ShellUI into geOShellShellUIMenu Settings
• moved all bar-related settings from ShellUI into geOShellShellUIBar Settings
• moved “DropAction” settings from ShellUI into geOShellServicesBarsDropAction
