Download FireTune 1.0
After a series of betas, Totalidea Software finally has 1.0 of its web browser tweaking tool FireFox ready for you. The download has increased in size by two and a half and now measures 500KB. This is mainly due to the fact that the program now comes in the form of an installer and no longer as a zip file. What is immediately noticeable is that the interface has been overhauled. This is how it got tabs and also some other colors. Fortunately, “under the hood” a few things have also been adjusted. The tweaks can now also be disabled and the program has undergone the necessary code optimizations. The full changelog looks like this:

- FireTune now has a tabbed user interface to offer more room for future development 😉
- The ‘Performance tweaks common to all configurations’ feature can now be activated as well as deactivated
- New feature: force Firefox to display an error page instead of an error messagebox when there’s a problem with a URL
- New feature: the ‘Browser Turbo’ option has been replaced by a new feature to create a shortcut to Firefox on the desktop to launch Firefox faster with the Windows XP Prefetcher option
- New FireTune graphics and FireTune icon (thanks to MayoSoft ( for providing the graphics!)
- Improved ‘Check for new version’ feature
- Fixing a problem with the saved path to the current language file
- The warning on startup to create a backup of the configuration file is now displayed on the very first start only
- FireTune now comes with a small setup for easy installation

- Lots of code optimizations
