Software Update: CoreTemp 0.99.6.1

The version 0.99.6 of CoreTemp, which was released last Monday, has been updated to 0.99.6.1. This small and free program allows the computer’s processor to be identified and monitored. CoreTemp is able to display the temperature of the individual cores, something that not many other programs can. At the moment, only the more modern processors supported, including AMD’s Phenom, Athlon64, and Turion64, and Intel’s Core and Core 2. The collected information is written into a log, so that it can be graphed later, for example in Excel. The changelog of this release shows the following changes:

Fixed in version 0.99.6.1:

  • Overheating protection.
  • Incorrect detection of some Intel and AMD processors.
  • Layout problems with AMD Phenom series and newer processors.

Known issues:

  • Intel processor speed detection displays extremely high numbers.
