Software Update: Bolt 4.2

Spread the love

Version 4.2 of Bolt released. Bolt is an open source content management system and is in some ways comparable to programs such as WordPress and Drupal. Bolt is easy to use, for both installation and management, has several good looking templates that work with Twig are customizable, and is optimized for both desktop and mobile environments.

Since version 4.0, Bolt has become a full-fledged Symfony application. The editorial environment has been completely revamped and now supports multilingualism. There is also a choice between different content editors, there are collections, as we know from the Gutenberg editor in WordPress, and there is a RESTful / GraphQL API. This release marks the end of support for Bolt 3 and further announces version 5, which will be released at the end of this month, but will contain few changes itself.

Bolt 4.2 released

According to your announcement earlier this monthwe have released Bolt 4.2 as the intermediate release prior to the big 5.0 coming out.

Since we follow the best practices of semantic versioning, updating from Bolt 4.0.x or 4.1.x to Bolt 4.2 will work just as usual. Additionally, 4.2 will allow you to do the groundwork for upgrading your websites to Bolt 5. As we announced earlier, Bolt 5 will be released on 30 August 2021.

Should you wish to be one step ahead and prepare for the upgrade now, we have prepared an instruction guide for the 15-minute work that is necessary.
