Download AntiVir Personal Edition 6.30.00.05

H+BEDV has updated its free anti-virus software AntiVir Personal Edition to 6.30.00.05 and the virus definitions have now arrived at version 6.30.00.06. This program recognizes more than 80,000 viruses and offers protection against trojans, dailers, worms and backdoor programs that often enter via the internet. Also the very handy internet update service is not missing. The developers have provided the following changelog:

General:

The packages now have a build number, which is stored in the file BUILD.DAT. In addition to a package number and the date, this file contains some version information and the package language. The build number is increased with every new package. The programs now display the build number in the window “About AntiVir” and in the logfiles.

AntiVir for Windows 9x/Me:

Up to now, the AntiVir Guard for Windows 9x/Me always displayed alerts on messages concerning viruses and unwanted programs via a screen in text mode (“blue screen”). The AntiVir Guard now generally carries out the standard action (normally “Deny access”) and then displays a normal Windows dialog with the inquiry as to whether further actions are to be carried out with the file and which ones, eg delete, rename, repair , move. The “Repair” option was removed from the “Search” tab, as it is no longer required due to conversion of the AntiVir Guard. In the “Action” tab, the selection “Actions if file not repaired” was renamed as “Handling concerning files” and converted to a drop-down list. Here the “Repair” option removed under “Search” can also be selected again.

AntiVir for Windows XP (2000 + NT):

Separation of the device driver on the NT-platform into two platform-dependent drivers: one version for Windows NT and one version for Windows 2000 and XP. With this separation, the extended possibilities of Windows 2000 and XP can be better supported. The driver for 2000/XP was renamed from avgntdd.sys to avgntdw.sys. The name of the driver for NT remains the same.

AntiVir Windows Workstation now supports designs (themes) of Windows XP. This means that when switching to different colors/display forms of Windows XP, all AntiVir programs adapt their dialogs and the associated controls accordingly.
