Download AbiWord 2.1.3
Those looking for an open source word processor that should be comparable to Microsoft Word should definitely take a look at AbiWord. The software has a large amount of features while still running on everything that can compete with a 486-PC. Even if that system is not a PC: AbiWord can be made to work on almost every platform. The word processor has since welcomed version 2.1.3, which contains more than 200 fixes from the previous release:
The highlight of this release is its fixes, and there are about 200 of them. For a list of these, albeit non-exhaustive, see the changelog. - There is a performance issue on OSX described in bug 6881. Its effect is limited to OSX, and does not appear in 2.1.1, which is still available (see bug).
- While many bug fixes have been made, many bugs remain (particularly with those features only recently developed), and therefore this release is not recommended for production environments. However, careful testing and extensive use of bugzilla.abisource.com are encouraged.
