Snapchat is said to be planning to integrate games into its application from April 4. External developers would then be able to offer games. It is not the first time that rumors have come out about a gaming platform within Snapchat.

The rumors come from the website Cheddar, which claims to have an undisclosed source who is familiar with the plans for the game platform, which would also be codenamed Project Cognac. On April 4, Snapchat is holding a developer event in Los Angeles to publicize the game project.

From then on, a number of games made by third-party developers should become available. Those games are said to have been developed especially for Snapchat, but otherwise there is no information about what they will look like. It is also not known whether it concerns free or paid games, or a mix of both.

A Snapchat spokesperson declined to comment on the news, but there have been rumors about games for some time. Rumors came out last year and parent company Snap also made a number of acquisitions that pointed to the offering of games.
