The sensor of the ultra-wide-angle camera of the Apple iPhone 14 Pro will be twice as large as that of the 13 Pro, according to statements by TF-Securities analyst MIng-Chi Kuo.

According to Kuo the camera sensor will get 1.4 micron pixels, compared to 1.0 micron of current iPhone 13 Pro models. If Apple sticks to the resolution of 12 megapixels, the surface of the sensor will be 24 square millimeters, instead of 12 square millimeters. The optical format then changes from 1/3.2″ to 1/2.3″.

It would then be the second year in a row with an upgrade for the ultra-wide-angle camera. Last year, the iPhone 13 Pro got a larger camera sensor with f/1.8 aperture and autofocus. The latter function made macro photos possible with the camera for the first time.

Apple will most likely present its new iPhones next week. There would be four models, including two Pro models. They would be more expensive than their predecessors. The ‘mini’ model disappears, while a large variant of the cheaper regular iPhone 14 appears.
