Video card manufacturer Sapphire has developed a version of the HD 6950 that is already overclocked as standard and that is equipped with a modified cooler. The Toxic version is additionally equipped with a double bios for overclocking enthusiasts.

Instead of the standard speed of 800MHz, the GPU is in the HD 6950 Toxic clocked at 880MHz, while the 2GB DDR5 memory effectively runs at 5200MHz instead of 5000MHz. In order to guarantee stability, not two six-pin but one six-pin and one eight-pin power cable must be connected.

The card has two bios, so users can experiment with different settings and configurations relatively risk-free. The second bios on the card can also be used to activate all 1536 shaders on the chip, although this will not work with every copy. Normally there are 1408 stream processors available.

To properly cool the overclocked chip, Sapphire uses a vapor chamber, and it also has extra large openings in the backplate. Two DVI and two Displayport connections and a single HDMI connection are available for the output of video signals.
