Samsung to release flat 28″ 4k monitor Odyssey G7 with HDMI 2.1 in July

Samsung will release new models in its line of Odyssey gaming monitors in July. There will be variants of the G7 and G5 with a flat panel and the top model has a 4k resolution and HDMI 2.1 connections.

Namely, the new Odyssey G7 and G5 are the same as last year’s models, but the 2021 variants have different specifications. For example, the new G7 is a 28″ monitor with a flat panel, a 4k resolution and a refresh rate of 144Hz. Last year’s model came in 27″ and 32″, which have curved panels with a resolution of 2560×1440 pixels. and a refresh rate of 240Hz.

The new Odyssey G7 28″ has two HDMI 2.1 connections, with which Samsung responds to use with the new consoles from Sony and Microsoft. The G5 and G3 have to make do with older HDMI versions and DisplayPort 1.4. The Odyssey G7 has a peak brightness of 400cd/m2 and a VESA DisplayHDR 400 certificate.

Samsung presents the flat Odyssey G3, G5 and G7 as new models in the range. Last year’s curved panel variants remain available. The Odyssey G7 with HDMI 2.1 costs 799 euros, the flat G5 has a suggested retail price of 499 euros. According to Samsung, the monitors will be on sale from July. The Odyssey G3 is available in 24″ and 27″ for suggested retail prices of 239 and 279 euros. These monitors have been available for several months.
