Samsung introduces M8 monitors with different colors

Samsung Electronics has introduced a new series of monitors: the Smart Monitor M8. The 32″ uhd monitor comes in four colors and is 11.4mm thick. The monitor comes with a magnetic webcam, and with support for iot devices, Bixby and Amazon Alexa.

The 32″ Samsung Smart Monitor M8 has a resolution of 3840×2160 pixels and a refresh rate of 60Hz. With the VA panel, Samsung promises a brightness of 400cd/m², a response time of 4ms and support for HDR10+. The screen must show 99 percent of the sRGB color space and has a viewing angle of 178 degrees. The screen is 11.4mm thick, which is about three-quarters thinner than its predecessor. The screen has virtually no bezels.

The monitor is equipped with adaptive lighting that automatically adjusts the brightness when it is darker in the room. At the back of the monitor are two 5W speakers that have to adjust the character of the sound with Adaptive Sound+ based on the type of sound being played and how much noise there is in the room. For example, the sound sounds different with music than with speech and the monitor must also provide clear sound in a busy room, Samsung promises. The monitor comes with one micro HDMI connection and two USB-C connections on the back.

The M8 is a smart display and comes with Samsung’s Tizen operating system. The monitor has support for Samsung TV Plus and comes with built-in microphones that work with Bixby, Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa. The microphones are always on, even when the screen is turned off. With built-in Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 4.2, it is also possible to wirelessly connect iot devices to the screen via the SmartThings Hub. The monitor is also equipped with a special Workspace User Interface, from which users can control Samsung DeX, Apple AirPlay 2 and Microsoft 365, among others, and there is support for Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Disney+ and Apple TV via WiFi, without having to a PC or TV is required.

The monitor comes with a SlimFit webcam. This wireless 1080p camera snaps magnetically to the back of the monitor and can also be easily detached. The camera can rotate and features face tracking and auto-zoom to keep users in frame during video calls. The camera is not only available for this monitor, but should also come to other Samsung TVs.

Samsung supplies the monitor in four colors: white, pink, blue and green. The monitor comes with a height-adjustable stand, the SlimFit camera and remote control. the monitor was first announced during CES and is now for sale for 799 euros.
