Samsung will release a new Android tablet in April. The Galaxy Tab S5e has a 10.5″ OLED screen with a 16:10 ratio and a resolution of 2560×1600 pixels. The tablet is thinner than the Tab S4 and also has thinner screen bezels.

Samsung puts a Snapdragon 670-soc in the Galaxy Tab S5e. That is an octacore with two cores at 2.2GHz and six cores at 1.7GHz. Qualcomm presented that 10nm soc in August last year. There will be versions with 4GB and 6GB ram, with 64GB and 128GB flash storage respectively. There is also a micro SD card slot.

The dimensions of the new tablet are 245x160x5.5mm. That means the screen bezels are thinner than those of the Galaxy Tab S4 models, which have the same screen at 249.3×164.3×7.1mm in size. The Tab S5e is also lighter with 400 grams, while the battery capacity with 7040mAh is hardly smaller. The Galaxy Tab S4 models, which weigh 485 grams, have a 7300mAh battery.

Samsung provides the Tab S5e with Bixby 2.0. The tablet can therefore be used as a hub to operate other smart Samsung devices. The tablet also supports DeX, with an optional keyboard, the tablet can be used as a PC environment, according to Samsung.

There are four speakers in the housing and a 13-megapixel camera on the back. The front camera has an 8-megapixel resolution. There is only a USB-C port, a 3.5mm connection is missing. The tablet comes with Android 9.0 with Samsung’s own software shell on top.

The housing is made of metal and Samsung releases the Tab S5e in the colors silver, black and gold. The tablet should be in stores from April, for a suggested retail price from 399 euros.

Update, Wednesday, 16.00: The price has been adjusted by Samsung from 419 euros to 399 euros. The article has been adapted accordingly.
