Samsung has confirmed the arrival of the new generation Galaxy Z Fold and Galaxy Z Flip. The new foldable smartphones will be officially announced on August 11 during the Unpacked event. Images of both foldables leaked earlier.
The Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Z Flip 2 will be officially announced on August 11, reports Tea Moon Roh of Samsung’s smartphone division. A previous message already hinted at the announcement of the third generation of foldables from Samsung, now it has been confirmed.
In the product announcement, Samsung does not provide any details about either foldable, other than that it partnered with Google to optimize more apps for the foldable format. For example, Google Duo, YouTube and Microsoft Teams now work better on the foldable phones. In addition, the new Fold and Flip will come with a specially developed new stylus, the S Pen.
Several images of the then-unannounced Z Fold 3 and Z Flip 2 leaked out a month ago, as well as the official case with holder for the S Pen on Monday . It was rumored that the two would have a smaller battery than their predecessors. Samsung would also be working on a foldable with a double folding screen that should be released at the end of this year. It is unknown if it will also be announced during the Unpacked event. Samsung does report that no new Note smartphone will be announced during Unpacked. A new Galaxy Watch and new wireless earbuds are also likely to be unveiled at that event.
