Samsung announces Galaxy Watch with Tizen OS

Samsung has announced a new wearable with a Tizen based OS. The Galaxy Watch comes in two sizes: 46mm and 42mm. The largest has a battery capacity of 472mAh, with which the wearable could last for more than 80 hours.

Despite the use of the name Galaxy, which Samsung invariably reserves for Android products, the smartwatch does not run a Google Wear OS but ‘Tizen based Wearable OS 4.0 ‘. According to the manufacturer, the watch is compatible with Android 5.0 and iOS 9 and later versions of these operating systems.
Two versions of the Galaxy Watch will appear. There is a 46mm version in the silver. It has a round 1,3-inch screen with a resolution of 360 x 360. This model weighs 63 grams without a strap and has a battery capacity of 472mAh.The 42mm version has a 1.2 “amolar screen with a resolution of 360×360 pixels. with a battery with capacity of 270mAh. The weight is a bit lower at 49 grams and this model comes in black and gold pink.
The screen of the smartwatch is protected using Gorilla Glass DX + and the model is waterproof. The wearable can use his sensors to keep track of the stress level of the wearer and to suggest breathing exercises if necessary. In addition, the number of workouts compared to previous Samsung watches has been increased to 39.
Both models run on an Exynos 9110 dual core, with a clock speed of 1.15 GHz. They contain 768MB of RAM and 4GB of storage. There is also support for bluetooth 4.2, wifi-n, nfc and gps. The 42mm version is 309 euros and 46mm variant 329 euros. They will be released in the Benelux on September 7.
