Samsung may hold an Unpacked event on February 8, where it will announce its Galaxy S22 series of smartphones. A Samsung spokesperson would have confirmed this to South Korea’s Digital Daily. A release should follow later in February.

“We have confirmed that the event will take place on February 8,” says a Samsung spokesperson to Digital Daily. The company will send invitations for the announcement at the end of January, according to that website. The spokesperson would also have confirmed that the company will come with three Galaxy S22 devices. Presumably this concerns the Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22 Plus and Galaxy S22 Ultra. Pre-orders would start on February 9 and the devices will be delivered from February 24, the South Korean news medium writes.

There have been rumors about the Galaxy S22 phones for some time now. Renders of the three devices in this series have already appeared and recently a promotional image of the S22 Ultra variant was also published. The Galaxy S22 Ultra would also have a Note-like design with a P-shaped camera island, while the S22 and S22 Plus should show similarities with the current Galaxy S21 devices. The smartphones are all expected to get an Exynos 2200-soc with an integrated RDNA2 GPU from AMD, while a version for the US market may get a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1.

Earlier rumors also suggested that the phones would be announced and released in February. Jon Prosser of Front Page Tech suggested in November that Samsung will introduce the phones ‘in the week of February 7’. That same leaker predicted a release of the Samsung Galaxy S21 FE on January 11 and that turned out to be correct.
