Negotiations between Samsung and Apple about a licensing deal as a result of the mutual patent lawsuits have come to nothing. ZDNet says that on the basis of anonymous sources. The companies had to discuss a deal from the judge.

Apple CEO Tim Cook and Samsung’s mobile division chief JK Shin met in the United States last week, according to ZDNet, but could not come to an agreement. The South Korean tech site does not state why they were unable to close a deal.

The judge in an American case between Apple and Samsung forced them to negotiate, in order to avert a lawsuit. Apple and Samsung have filed lawsuits against each other in dozens of countries in recent years for alleged patent infringement. This ‘patent war’ has not yet yielded a winner.
