Rumor: Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 will have Snapdragon 836 and Android 8

Images have surfaced online that may show a Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 with its information page open. The page shows some specifications of the upcoming bezel-less flagship from the Chinese company.

The images appeared on the Chinese social media website Weibo. The device in the photos contains a Snapdragon 836, 256GB of storage capacity, a 4400mAh battery, a 20-megapixel camera and a 6.2 “screen with a resolution of 2960×1440 pixels. The phone also seems to run Android 8.0.

Whether the specifications are correct is not entirely certain. After all, Qualcomm has not yet announced the Snapdragon 836, although the infamous smartphone stunner Evan Blass has already announced it before. suggested that the Pixel 2 from Google will be equipped with the same soc. According to Blass, that device will be unveiled on October 5. Another aspect that can be doubted is that Android 8 has only been released very recently and Xiaomi does not currently have a version of its MIUI skin available for it.

Xiaomi has sent out invitations for a presentation that will take place on September 11. During that presentation, the company will officially announce the Mi Mix 2. Previously, renders of the new device appeared, which showed that it had even thinner edges than its predecessor.

Last year, the first version of the Mi Mix was introduced. The device contained some innovative features, such as a screen with rounded corners that has an equally thin bezel on the top as on the side and a housing made of ceramic, a particularly scratch-resistant material. At the time, the device had the highest relative screen size of all phones, although in practice this percentage was slightly lower than the manufacturer originally indicated.
