Samsung would ask more money for its Galaxy S8 smartphone than for its S7. This is apparent from prices that telecom insider Evan Blass has put online. Desktop dock DeX would cost around 150 euros, he tweeted on his account @evleaks.

Samsung would ask 799 euros for the Galaxy S8 in Europe, thus @evleaks. That is one hundred euros more than the price of the Galaxy S7 at release a year ago. It cost 699 euros at the time. At 799 euros, the Galaxy S8 would also be more expensive than the cheapest variants of the Google Pixel and Apple iPhone 7, the most expensive phones of last year with prices around 770 euros. Smartphone makers have been increasing their prices in Europe almost every year for years due to a weaker euro, inflation and increased costs for materials and components.

The South Korean manufacturer would ask 899 euros for the Galaxy S8 +, reportedly a larger version of the phone with dual camera and larger screen. Blass also tweeted about accessory prices. A new version of VR headset Gear VR would cost 129 euros, a new version of the Gear 360 camera 229 euros. The new DeX accessory, which should allow users to use their smartphone as a PC, would cost around 150 euros.

Samsung has announced an event for next Wednesday at which it will likely announce the Galaxy S8. It is unknown when the phone will be released, but that is probably next month.
