Rumor: Nvidia to release RTX 3060 8GB and RTX 3060 Ti with GDDR6X at the end of October

Nvidia may release two new GeForce RTX 30 video cards at the end of October. That’s what sources tell VideoCardz. The company would release new variants of the GeForce RTX 3060 and RTX 3060 Ti.

According to VideoCardz the new GeForce RTX 3060 model features 8GB of GDDR6 memory, where the current RTX 3060 comes with 12GB of memory. The new 8GB variant is therefore probably cheaper than its predecessor. The new GeForce RTX 3060 Ti, in turn, gets faster GDDR6X memory, although the amount remains unchanged at 8GB. Assuming that the RTX 3060 Ti gets 19Gbit/s memory modules, the bandwidth would increase from 448GB/s to 608GB/s.

Rumors match messages from Twitter user Megasizegpu, who previously predicted the arrival of these video cards. That leaker also talked about a new RTX 3070 Ti with a faster GA102 GPU, but VideoCardz could not get confirmation from sources about that.

It is not known what the other specifications of the video cards will be, but they will probably remain unchanged compared to the current RTX 3060 and RTX 3060 Ti. Board partners expect the arrival of these cards to be an attempt by Nvidia to offer more video cards in the midrange segment, where competition is growing.

The reports of new RTX 30 graphics cards follow shortly after the announcement of a GeForce Beyond livestream, where Nvidia is likely to announce its first RTX 40 GPUs next week. This will probably only concern high-end models, such as the RTX 4090. VideoCardz writes that the new RTX 3060 and RTX 3060 Ti will only be released at the end of October after the first RTX 40 video cards have appeared.
