According to new rumors, Nvidia is developing a variant of its GTX 1070 GPU for mining purposes. Accelerators for mining based on GPUs from cards have already appeared in Nvidia’s GTX line, such as the GTX 1080.

The information comes from Hardware.info, which relies on a reliable source. Instead of 8GB gddr5 memory, the card has 4GB gddr5x memory on board. Like other models, this variant would also have no video outputs and due to the high load, there is only a 90-day warranty. This warranty period has already been mentioned for accelerators based on other GTX models.

The site states that it is unclear whether the card will be available separately or whether it will only be for sale as part of a system. There are cards that are available separately, for example, Inno3D came in December with an accelerator based on the P104 pgu of the GTX 1080, which is also equipped with gddr5x memory. That card has a tdp of 180W and delivers performance of about 34MH/s for Ethereum, 470Sol/s for Zcash and 660H/s for Monero.

In addition to specialized motherboards, there are also mining variants of AMD cards. For example, the first Radeon RX cards for mining appeared online last year.
