Rumor: AMD Radeon RX 6800M laptop video card gets Navi 22 GPU

An AMD Radeon RX 6800M video card for laptops has appeared in a recent display driver. The RX 6800M is positioned in it between two RX 6700 XT desktop GPUs, with which the mobile video card will probably get a Navi 22 GPU.

The Radeon RX 6800M was spotted by Twitter user Komachi_Ensaka, who noted that the mobile RDNA 2 GPU has the device ID 73DF:C3. This puts the video card between two Radeon RX 6700 XT desktop video cards, which bear the identification numbers 73DF:C1 and 73DF:C5 respectively. These RX 6700 XT GPUs both have a Navi 22 GPU, but differ in total graphics power and clock speeds.

This could possibly mean that the RX 6800M will also get a Navi 22 GPU. Since both RX 6700 XT video cards have a fully enabled GPU with 2560 stream processors, the RX 6800M could also get a full Navi 22 chip with the same number of cores, speculates VideoCardz, among others. However, this is not confirmed in AMD’s display drivers and should therefore be taken with a grain of salt.

AMD hasn’t officially announced its Radeon RX 6000 mobile graphics cards yet. The company reported earlier this year that the video cards will appear on the market in the first half of 2021, but did not mention any concrete information or specifications. According to unconfirmed rumors from VideoCardz, there will be four different Navi 22 laptop GPUs, with different powers of 145W, 135W, 100W or 90W. The GPUs would reportedly get a 192bit or 160bit memory bus with 12GB or 10GB video memory.
