Riot Games presents new hybrid champion for League of Legends

Riot Games has presented a new champion. Kayn is a hybrid champion who starts out as a human and can evolve into a quick assassin, but he can also morph into a demon, the Darkin. This entails two different playing styles.

Kayn wields a scythe as his weapon of choice and practices shadow magic. Inside the scythe is the demon Rhaast, giving the weapon demonic powers and eventually corrupting Kayn’s body and mind. Kayn can resist this, but if that doesn’t work, Rhaas will completely ‘swallow’ him and Kayn turns into a demon.

In human form, Kayn is a fast agile assassin, but in demonic form he is stronger and gains other abilities with more crowd control. Players have the ability to influence the transformation. If Kayn mainly attacks opponents who attack from a distance, he will transform more quickly into the assassin, but if he mainly attacks enemies that excel at hand-to-hand combat, he will turn into the demon.

Kayn in human form deals more magical damage in the first few seconds of battling enemies. As a Darkin, he can heal himself by dealing damage to enemies. With his scythe, he can jump forward and inflict damage on everyone around him. As Darkin, he does a different form of percentage damage.

In addition, Kayn can slow enemies with his scythe. As an assassin he gets a greater range; as Darkin, he can also pound enemies in the air. Kayn is also able to move faster for a period of time and can even walk through walls. As an assassin, Kayn gains an even greater movement speed.

Kayn’s ultimate ability gives him the ability to take hostage and possess an enemy he’s just attacked. During this process, he is invulnerable. If he ends the process prematurely, he deals significant damage to his target. As an assassin, he can use this ability from a greater distance; as Darkin, it does a different form of percentage damage and the attack also heals him.

Kayn is available to be tested in the public testing room. Soon the champion will be officially available to everyone, probably with the introduction of the next periodic patch.
