Sonos will introduce a smaller and less expensive subwoofer, the Sub Mini, in the coming months, according to The Verge. That subwoofer should become available alongside the current Sonos Sub Gen 3. It is not known when the smaller subwoofer will be released or what it will cost.

The Sonos Sub Mini gets a round design with a vertical cutout in the middle, according to information from The Verge. The Sub Gen 3 also has a similar cutout, suggesting that Sonos maintains a similar internal design to the Sub Mini, but with smaller and less powerful parts, according to The Verge. Exact dimensions of the Sub Mini are not known. The website claims, among other things, that the subwoofer can be used wirelessly in combination with other Sonos speakers.

At the moment Sonos only sells the Sub Gen 3 as a subwoofer. It is now in the Pricewatch for € 769,-. The Sub Mini should be a more affordable alternative, according to The Verge, but the exact price is not yet known. The Verge further writes that the Sub Mini is known internally as the S37. This makes the Sub Mini the next product after the recently announced Sonos Ray soundbar, which was codenamed S36. The Verge also shared accurate details about that soundbar early on.

It is unknown when the Sub Mini will be released. Sonos CEO Patrick Spence recently said the company will introduce “new products in existing categories” in fiscal 2022, which could include the Sub Mini. Sonos’ fiscal 2022 fiscal year runs through September.

There have been rumors that Sonos is working on a smaller and less expensive subwoofer. Hints to that appeared in the Sonos app a few months ago. In November, he reported, among other things, a Sonos Sub Mini with a cylindrical design, showed from screenshots on Reddit.
