The release of the Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time remake has been delayed. Publisher Ubisoft states that the extra time will allow it to “create a remake that feels new and still stays true to the original.” There is no new release date yet.

The game was announced in September of last year and was then given a release date of January 21. Later that year, it was moved to March 18, but that date is now also off the track. It is not entirely clear what exactly causes the change in planning this time. At the first postponement it was said that the corona pandemic had slowed things down. this time it doesn’t make it clear what’s wrong, but it does refer to a ‘deluge of feedback’ after the original announcement.

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time appeared in 2003 and marked the reboot of the classic games from the 1980s and 1990s. They came from the hand of the American Jordan Mechner, who also collaborated on The Sands of Time. In the remake, players will be able to unlock his classic 1989 Prince of Persia game. Mechner did not actively participate in the new remake, but was kept informed of the development and gave advice on a number of points.

The remake will cost 40 euros and will be released for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The PC version will be available on the Epic Game Store and Ubisoft Store and as part of Ubisoft’s Uplay+ subscription.
