Razer has released a new enclosure for external graphics cards. The Core X Chroma is a more expensive version of the Core X, with RGB lighting. The housing doubles as a hub with USB and Gigabit Ethernet ports and has a 700W power supply.

Razer positions the new Core X Chroma case over the Core X announced last year and continues to sell both models. The older Core V2, which also had RGB lighting and hub functionality, will be discontinued.

The Razer Core X Chroma has the same dimensions as the regular Core X, but has a slightly more powerful power supply. It is a 700W copy, which brand it is Razer does not mention. It is probably a regular atx power supply, just like in the Core X.

Video cards of up to 330mm long fit in the housing and they can be wide ones that take up three slots. All current AMD and Nvidia video cards can be used in combination with a Windows laptop. Only AMD video cards will work with Apple hardware with macOS.

The Core X Chroma enclosure connects to a laptop or other device using Thunderbolt 3. Laptops can also be charged with a maximum of 100W via this connection. Razer sells the Core X Chroma through its own website for 430 euros. In the Benelux, the housing is not offered at other stores.
