In a conversation with shareholders, Take Two CEO Strauss Zelnick spoke out about subscription models such as Game Pass. The director of the publisher of games such as GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2 believes that the model is not suitable for major titles.

Take Two presented the figures for the past quarter on Tuesday and Zelnick also briefly discussed subscription models such as Game Pass. The publisher’s director noted that he thinks these subscription models are suitable for consumers looking for a large library, but less suitable for front-line titles.

He does not rule out the possibility that Take Two titles will be added to this kind of catalog in the future ‘very occasionally’ and that this has already happened in the past. Last year, Red Dead Redemption 2 was briefly part of the Game Pass subscription, as was NBA 2K20.

With GTA V, Take Two does the same. Today it was also announced that the game will be removed from Game Pass on August 8. The 2013 game was only part of the subscription for a few months. A new version of GTA V for the Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 with better graphics will be released later this year.
