Software update: PowerToys 0.20.0

Microsoft has released a new version of PowerToys. The PowerToys are a collection of small programs for power users. There were PowerToys for Windows 95 and Windows XP and not long ago Microsoft also started developing a version for Windows 10. At the moment there are only a limited number of programs in the collection, including FancyZones , Windows key shortcut guide PowerRename , PowerToys Run and Keyboard Manager. The release notes for this version can be found below.

  • Martin Chrzan’s Color Picker was added in! With a quick WinShiftC, get the color from your screen
  • File Explorer – Can now render SVG icons thanks to Chris Davis
  • FancyZones – you can now snap to any number of zones in FancyZones holding ShiftCtrlwhile dragging a window
  • PT Run – keyboard interaction improvements
  • PT Run – freshly installed apps are now being detected
  • PT Run – Lots of perf and bug fixes
  • Keyboard manager – app level shortcuts
    • Example: For Outlook, Remap CtrlFto F4and now CtrlFwill put up the find window 🙂
  • Keyboard manager – Now can remap key to shortcut and shortcut to a key.
  • Settings – Now have improved OOBE based on the work the Microsoft Garage Interns did during their hackathon
  • PowerRename improvements.
