Pokémon Legends: Arceus Trailer Shows Bossfight And New Pokémon

A new trailer for Pokémon Legends: Arceus shows off new gameplay from the game’s boss fights. Unlike the turn-based battles that characterize the Pokémon games, in boss fights you fight a Pokémon with your character first.

The new trailer shows how you first have to fight against so-called Noble Pokémon in the open world game. These Pokémon are stronger than the Pokémon you normally encounter in the wild in the game and need to be calmed down first. You do this by dodging attacks with your character and throwing some kind of dust at the Pokémong to calm it down. Only when this is successful will the usual turn-based phase of the battle begin, in which your own Pokémon will take on the wild Pokémon.

Also featured in the trailer is a new evolution of Scyther: Kleavor. This bug/rock Pokémon is the third new Pokémon announced for the open world game. In addition to Scyther, Basculin and Stantler also receive new evolutions.

Pokémon Arceus was announced at the beginning of this year and is different from the RPG games that have appeared in the series so far. The game takes place in the feudal era of the Sinnoh region and players can roam freely in an open world. The game therefore resembles The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild more than the previous games: Pokémon Sword and Shield. Pokémon Legends: Arceus is out for Nintendo Switch on January 28.
