The PlayStation versions of the fps game Borderlands 3 will still support crossplay. Last year, Gearbox said the PlayStation versions of BL3 would get crossplay, but it had to retract that promise then.

Publisher 2K Games confirms to Eurogamer that the PlayStation versions of the shooter will receive crossplay more than two years after release. This means PlayStation users can play together with players who have BL3 on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, macOS, Windows or Google Stadia. It is not yet known when the feature will be available.

Last year, BL3 got crossplay support on all platforms except the PlayStation consoles. Randy Pitchford, the chief executive of Borderlands developer Gearbox, said crossplay support on PlayStation consoles should be removed from the update. The exact reason for this is unknown.

It’s possible that Gearbox and Borderlands publisher 2K Games didn’t get involved with Sony at the time after all, as the company claims a share of the revenue if players play cross-play games primarily on a PlayStation console. It is not known which agreements have now been made to make crossplay possible.

Earlier, developer Gearbox announced that its upcoming game Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands will support crossplay across all platforms. The Borderlands spin-off will be released on March 25 for current and previous generation Xbox and PlayStation consoles. A PC version is also coming to Steam and the Epic Games Store.
