Pioneer unveils the DJ PLX-500, a vinyl turntable with USB recording functionality. The device can be connected directly to active speakers, a separate amplifier is not necessary. The turntable will be on the market in September for 349 euros.

According to Pioneer, the PLX-500 will have the same layout as the PLX-1000, which is aimed at professional users. The PLX-500 is suitable for LPs, maxis and singles. The speed is adjustable to 33 1/3, 45 or 78 rpm. Pioneer has equipped the turntable with a preamp, so that the player can be directly connected to active speakers. The PLX-500 comes in a white and black version.

By combining two turntables with a mixer, the device can also be used by DJs. However, the USB recording function should also make the turntable interesting for vinyl owners who want to digitize their collection. Recording works by connecting the PLX-500 via USB to a PC or Mac. Then wav files can be created from the records being played using the rekordbox software.
