Pine64 will release the PineTime smartwatch in the first half of next year. That has been announced by the manufacturer. There are also more details about the watch, which should be on the market for 25 dollars and can run multiple operating systems.

The devkit will be out as early as next month, according to the details on the Wiki page about the PineTime that Pine64 has put online. Depending on the use of that devkit, the final version will be released in the first or second quarter of next year.

In terms of operating systems, Pine64 talks about Zephyr, FreeRTOS, Mbed, Mynetw or Nuttx. The PineTime runs on a Nordic nRF52832, a chip with a Cortex M4 processor core at 64MHz with probably 64KB sram and a flash storage of 512KB. The battery has a capacity of 180mAh, while the watch has a 1.3″ IPS LCD with a resolution of 240×240 pixels. This is a capacitive touchscreen.

The clock measures 37.5x40x11mm and weighs 38 grams. Pine64 will charge $23 for the watch and $2 for the strap, which will be interchangeable. Pine64 recently announced the watch, but gave few details at the time. It concerns an existing design of a smartwatch, which provides Pine64 with new components and its own operating system.
