Photos have appeared online of the Leica Q2, the successor to the Leica Q introduced in 2015. That is a camera with a full-frame sensor and a fixed lens. According to rumors, the new model will be presented on March 6.

The photos are on the Japanese Nokishita blog, which regularly publishes images of unannounced cameras. Specifications of the new model are not yet known, but the images indicate that the Q2 will have a housing that is sealed against dust and moisture.

Leica has already posted teasers that hint at the arrival of the new camera. Leica-Rumors has been informed that the official announcement will take place on March 6. According to the rumor site, the Leica Q2 is expected to get a much higher resolution sensor, possibly a 47-megapixel sensor. The first model has a 24-megapixel sensor.

Like the 2015 Leica Q, the new model has a fixed 28mm f/1.7 lens. Digital zoom is possible by means of cropping. With the current Q there are options for 35mm and 50mm, the new model would add 75mm. The device would also get a 4k movie function.
