Photos have surfaced online of what would be the successor to the Sony Xperia Z1. The photos show a device that is slightly larger and also has a slightly larger screen than Sony’s current Z1 smartphone.

Judging by the image, where the device codenamed Sirius is next to the Z1, the new Android smartphone measures around 152x75mm and has a slightly rounder design than its predecessor. The photo was published by the Japanese site Digi-wo, which also published a photo of the Sirius in both black and white. Previous rumors have mentioned a 5.2″ screen, and given these photos, that may be correct. If the information is correct, between 65 and 67 percent of the front is covered by screen, slightly more than the Xperia Z1.

The photos match previous photos that would show the same phone. The new smartphone could, among other things, shoot videos in 4k and slow-motion, and feature Android 4.4 with a new version of Sony’s skin for Android. Sony would like to present the device in a week and a half at the Mobile World Congress telecom fair in Barcelona. That timing is obvious; Sony has been releasing a new ‘flagship’ at the beginning of the year and in the fall for years in a row. The Xperia Z1, in September, was the last.
